seven years, summarized
2015 to 2018
I began my career as a student journalist and content writer while attending the University of Idaho. My work was published in three separate on-campus publications: Vandals in Focus, an undergraduate research magazine, Blot Magazine, a student-run journalistic magazine, and the Argonaut, which is the university's student-run newspaper.
During my junior year, I interned with two campus organizations: the University of Idaho Women's Center and the University of Idaho College of Science. As an intern with the Women’s Center, I wrote creative articles about social, cultural, and political issues. I had a similar role with the College of Science researching and writing articles that promoted undergraduate research while helping to revamp the College's undergraduate website. I also wrote blog articles for the college lifestyle website Society19, all of which were published on their website, during my freshman and sophomore years.
While finishing my degree, I began freelancing as a content creator, virtual assistant, social media manager, and marketer using the digital freelance platform Upwork. (You can find a list of my previous clients in the portfolio tab in the menu.)
After graduating a semester early with a B.S. in Journalism and a minor in Psychology, I moved from Idaho to Dallas, Texas to continue my career. After the move, I took a break from my freelance and writing roles as I searched for new professional opportunities.
2019 to 2020
My first full-time marketing position was with the aerospace technology start-up Catalyze Dallas as their digital media and marketing intern. During this internship, I completed projects for Catalyze Dallas and its two subsidiary companies: Alpine Advanced Materials and Metro Aerospace. Some of my duties in this role included drafting and publishing press releases, managing multiple social media campaigns, researching and planning marketing campaigns, and creating content for all three company websites in partnership with a contracted agency.
At the end of this internship, I was hired as a full-time barista at Starbucks, giving myself time to explore other professional opportunities. After 8 months of working as a barista, I was ready to continue my career and ended up accepting a role as a legal assistant/intake coordinator at Winocour Law. In this position, along with my other duties, I helped guide the firm on its digital marketing strategy and web design so the firm could use that budget for other projects.
2021 to present
A year later, I officially reentered the marketing profession by accepting a full-time position with Portfolio Resident Services, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in affordable housing. Although I was originally hired as a journalist/content writer for the new Marketing and Technology Department, within my first month of employment I realized that the team needed an experienced digital marketer, so I took on that role and began working on projects that went beyond the scope of my original job description. By the end of my time with PRS, I was acting as the lead and sole marketer for the organization, planning and managing everything from social media content to press releases.
In October 2021, after 8 successful months with PRS, I decided it was time for a change and accepted a full-time marketing project manager position with icreatives staffing in partnership with Walmart’s internal marketing operations team. I spent my time in this role working as a project manager for in-store marketing and branding for three divisions fo Walmart: Financial Services, Hardlines, and Grocery & Consumables. Outside of my full-time position, I also collaborated with the awesome team at Social for Good Co., a woman-owned and run content marketing agency that services socially responsible businesses, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits, as a contract Content Developer. I stepped away from SFG in May 2022 to spend more time with my family.
After a year of employment with icreatives staffing and Walmart, my family and I decided it was the right time to move back to our hometown in Washington State. Starting March 2023, I worked for a short-time with the talented team at Brand It Advertising before moving on to better opportunities.
I am now open to new opportunities and am actively looking for a new position with clients and companies whose ethos align with my own.
I look forward to working with you!
